“I wanted to build something that helps Christians date with intention.”
I’ve experienced firsthand how frustrating modern dating apps can be. After spending time on existing Christian dating apps, I found myself feeling unseen, disappointed, and unsure whether the time I was investing was actually getting me anywhere.
I wanted to meet compatible Christians who shared my values and were genuinely interested in building meaningful relationships, but finding those people was often harder than it needed to be.
Then, one morning, I woke up and decided to build my own dating app.
Literally.
That was the beginning of Prothie.
Why I’m building Prothie.
I believe there are plenty of Christians who are ready to date intentionally but simply don’t know where to find compatible people. Churches are wonderful places to build community, but finding other single Christians who are interested in dating isn’t always easy.
Dating apps can help bridge that gap, but too often, they demand enormous amounts of time without providing a clear path toward meaningful relationships.
I don’t believe dating apps should replace meeting people in person or having the courage to ask someone out. They should simply make it easier to discover compatible people you might not otherwise meet.
That’s what I want Prothie to accomplish: an app that respects your time, prioritizes compatibility, and encourages you to pursue real relationships rather than spend your days endlessly browsing profiles.
I wanted to build something that helps Christians date with intention.
That idea of purpose inspired the name Prothie, derived from the Greek word prothesis, meaning purpose or intention. It’s a reminder of why I started: to help Christians date with purpose and pursue meaningful relationships with marriage in mind.
Faith at the center.
My relationship with God is the most important part of my life, and I want the things I build to reflect the values I’ve developed through spending time with Him and studying His Word.
I believe dating should be approached with purpose and that marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman. Those convictions shape Prothie’s mission and the way I’m designing the app.
Jesus taught us to treat others as we would want to be treated. That’s a principle I’ve taken to heart throughout this project.
I’m not just building Prothie for other people. I’m building the kind of dating app I wish someone had built for me.
Where we are today.
Prothie is still in development, and I’m currently seeking opportunities to visit college campuses, introduce students to the prototype, and gather their feedback.
Building the app has taught me a lot about programming, branding, and the challenge of balancing efficiency with intentionality. I want people to feel that their time is being respected without sacrificing the opportunity to find someone they’re genuinely compatible with.
I’m not a large corporation with an established dating platform. I’m a 19-year-old Christian with an idea, a working prototype, and a desire to help improve Christian dating for people like me.
My hope is that, one day, Prothie will help thousands of Christians go on meaningful dates, build lasting relationships, and find someone with whom they can pursue marriage.
For now, I’m taking it one step at a time: listening to feedback, improving the app, and inviting others to be part of the process.
Thanks for taking an interest in Prothie.
